The Police Chief serves as the  executive and administrative head of the Albany Police Department and is responsible for  the overall leadership, direction, planning, and management of all departmental  operations, personnel, programs, and public safety initiatives. The incumbent develops  and implements modern policing strategies emphasizing community policing, procedural  justice, transparency, accountability, officer wellness, violence reduction, and  collaborative partnerships with residents, businesses, neighborhood organizations,  schools, and governmental agencies. The work involves significant independent  judgment in the administration of a full-service urban police department serving a  Albany’s diverse community with complex public safety needs. The Police Chief reports  directly to the Mayor and/or designee.

The Aquatics Program &  Operations Manager is responsible for the year-round planning, administration,  organization, coordination, and evaluation of the City of Albany Aquatics Division. The  incumbent oversees the operation of municipal pools, splash pads, aquatic programming,  seasonal staffing, public outreach initiatives, regulatory compliance, and operational  readiness of aquatic facilities. The incumbent works under the general supervision of the  Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Recreation and exercises direct supervision  over seasonal aquatics personnel and subordinate supervisory staff.

The Budget Director plays a key role in developing and managing the City of Albany’s annual operating budget. This position works closely with department leaders to review budget requests, analyze financial data, and ensure city spending aligns with approved budget plans.

The Budget Director also monitors departmental spending and city revenue throughout the year, identifies financial trends, and makes recommendations to support responsible and efficient use of public funds. This role reports to the Commissioner of Administrative Services and helps guide the city’s overall budgeting process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and manage the preparation of the City’s annual operating budget.

• Review and analyze departmental budget requests and financial data.

• Work with department heads to confirm budget needs and make adjustments.

• Monitor department spending and city revenue throughout the year.

• Identify financial trends, cost projections, and potential budget issues.

• Prepare reports and recommendations for city leadership.

• Present budget information to city committees and at public hearings.

• Support the approval and publication of the final city budget.

• Process budget adjustments and transfers when needed.

Under the general direction of the Mayor,  the City Engineer serves as the senior engineering official for the municipality and is responsible  for planning, directing, and overseeing all operations of the Department of Engineering. Under  the general direction of the Mayor, the incumbent in this position plans and directs the operations  of the Department of Engineering. The incumbent provides executive leadership for the City’s  short- and long-range engineering, infrastructure, traffic, permitting, and building maintenance  functions. Operations are monitored through both direct and indirect supervision of subordinate  managerial and technical staff, including licensed engineers, project managers, and facility  maintenance personnel. The City Engineer maintains frequent, substantive contact with Federal,  State, regional, and local government officials regarding regulations, funding, emergency  response, and project coordination. The incumbent also provides consultation and support to City  departments on engineering and capital project matters.

This position within the Albany Police Department will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide specialized assistance to individuals in crisis. Caseworkers play a crucial role in supporting and stabilizing community members, ensuring that they receive appropriate care and resources. This position works with police officers and community partners to provide case management services to support victims and families dealing with violence, homicides, mental health, family issues, domestic violence, homelessness, and other related crises.
