The City of Albany is seeking an Equipment Operator 1 – Forestry. As an Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for operating various vehicles and equipment related to forestry, maintenance of street and water delivery systems, as well other related tasks. 

This includes operating dump trucks to transport construction materials, assist in hauling snow and salting roads during the winter, distributing materials from storage to various locations across the city, as well as maintaining and servicing trucks. The position also presents an opportunity to manage a small team working with vehicles.

This is semi-skilled work in the routine care and cultivation of a variety of flowers and plants.  Work assignments are outlined by a foreman and work is performed independently on the less technical gardening and maintenance work in a greenhouse or in the city parks. The gardener foreman may exercise minor supervision over a crew of laborers during planting operations Work is usually reviewed in process and upon completion. 

Performs routine manual work that requires long periods of physical endurance.  

Sanitation workers are assigned to vehicles and work with a driver.  

Employees may be required to ride on the outside of the vehicle during the collection process.
