Engineering

This is a professional, administrative and technical civil engineering position which requires supervision over surveying, design, construction and maintenance of public works projects.  The work is performed under the supervision of the City Engineer, with discretion allowed for the use of independent judgment in carrying out the duties of the position.  Coordination and supervision is exercised over the work of subordinates within the office and on related projects. 

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee and manage engineering and transportation system projects within a municipal setting. In this role, you will be responsible for the planning, execution, and successful completion of a variety of transportation and engineering projects, ensuring compliance with technical, budgetary, and quality standards. You will collaborate closely with engineers, architects, contractors, and the community to deliver high-quality results. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure efficient project execution. 

• Provide reporting and oversight under the direction of the City Engineer and Chief Supervisor of Traffic Engineering.  

• Conduct transportation engineering studies, transportation impact analyses, corridor studies, and safety studies. 

• Implement quality control measures to maintain project integrity. 

• Coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful project outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Proven experience managing traffic and planning projects, particularly within New York State. 

• Demonstrated ability to manage both publicly and privately funded projects. 

• Strong understanding of transportation engineering principles and practices. 

• Possess a Bachelor’s degree in civil or transportation engineering or  a Master’s degree in civil or transportation engineering is a plus
