The City of Albany’s Department of Administrative Services is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead and manage the implementation of critical new software within the City.  Our Department is comprised of the Offices of Budget, Human Resources, Innovation, Information Technology, Purchasing, MWBE & EEO Compliance, Payroll, Public Records, Sustainability, and Cultural Affairs.  We operate in a fastpaced, dynamic environment that has broad and lasting positive impact on the City.    


Preferred Qualifications and Skills: The successful candidate will have experience managing complex technical projects in a government environment or large organization.  We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills and a strong ability to build relationships with stakeholders of different backgrounds and technical abilities.  The ideal candidate is a problem solver who is focused on shaping and delivering projects for results and is comfortable with being in the trenches to lead project execution. The candidate will work alongside IT and Department leadership to implement core technology and participate in meaningful work to strengthen government operations.

A. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university or one accredited by the NYS Board of Regents to grant degrees with a Master’s Degree and two years of full-time, paid project management experience; OR 


B. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's Degree (or higher) and five (5) years of full-time, paid project management experience; OR 


C. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's Degree and seven (7) years of full-time, paid project management experience; OR 


D. Graduation from high school, or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, and nine (9) years of full-time, paid project management experience; OR 


E. An equivalent combination of training and experience as indicated above. 


NOTE:  Position may require ability to work Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays; and able to work shift assignments during the day, evening and nights.
