Seasonal Lifeguards, under direct supervision of the Aquatics Manager, and general supervision of Assistant Aquatic Managers, performs routine patrol work at assigned aquatic facilities, looking after the safety and welfare of swimmers and patrons. This is important work consisting primarily of routine patrol tasks performed under direct supervision. Employees must be constantly alert to assist swimmers when they are in difficulty and to enforce safety rules. Work requires exercise of sound judgment in emergencies, as well as:
• Stands guard and patrols at pools keeping swimmers and patrons safe and going to their aid when they are in difficulty.
• In emergencies, applies resuscitation techniques and otherwise renders first aid.
• Instructs beginner to advance swimming classes as assigned.
• Keeps locker rooms and poolside areas free of glass and other debris.
• Maintains order and enforces safety rules.
• Performs other routine duties such as maintaining and repairing equipment.
• Maintains recreation management software for all swim related activities and events.
• Assists front counter staff with helping customers, taking registrations, memberships, and answering questions related to the facilities and programs.
• Tracks and collects data including, but not limited to, daily participation, general ages of participants, type of activity performed, and location of pool area most utilized.
• Performs related duties as required.

*These are the minimum qualifications necessary by law to be considered for this position. If you do not have the needed experience or equivalent experience required for this role, kindly consider applying for another position with us.
Possession of a Red Cross or equivalent lifeguarding certification and demonstrated ability to do the work.
Good knowledge of first aid, lifesaving and rescue work as applied to accidents in the water.
Ability to deal with the public and to secure cooperation without escalating conflict.
Ability to keep records and to make simple reports.
Good observation.
Mental Alertness.
Good moral character.
Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
